My husband and I just got back from a week vacation at the Dreams Vista Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico. It opened in July of 2020 (bless their heart) and the hotel itself is a beautiful, modern architectural build. Every room has an ocean view!
**Side Note ** At the time of this post, we did not have to have the Covid vaccine to travel to Mexico/the resort, nor did we have to have a negative Covid test. We DID have to have a negative Covid test within 72 hours of leaving the resort to fly back into the US. Dreams Vista had a testing facility on site and they set up the test at no cost to us. It took ten minutes to get the results back. As someone that had spent a whole year and a half avoiding every possible scenario where I might have to have that gigantic q-tip tickle my brain, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Uncomfortable? Yes. Painful? No.
I feel it is important to mention that Dreams Vista is not located within the “Hotel Zone”. So if you are familiar with the Hotel Zone and it is important to you to stay in that area, you might not want to consider this hotel. It is about a twenty minute cab ride to get there.

The first thing I noticed when we arrived was how secure I felt. You have to check in at a main gate and then check in at another gate to gain to entrance to the hotel property. You must also sign out at both places to leave the property. The staff was very nice and friendly. Most of the employees that have jobs where they have a lot of contact with guests spoke English very well so there wasn’t a huge language barrier for American/English speaking guests.

I was very pleased with the cleanliness and quality of the room. We stayed in a Preferred Corner Suite and I felt super bougee every night when we came in from dinner and my bed was turned back with a piece of chocolate on my pillow. #livingmybestlife Since we have been home, I have hoped to walk into my bedroom at night to find the turn-down fairies have visited me in Nashville. The pillows and bedding were very comfortable and the towels were plush. You could fit 10 people in the shower! (I don’t know why you would want to, but you could.)
From our balcony we had beautiful views of the golf course, pool, beach, and ocean on one side. To the other side was Cancun City and we slept with the curtains open every night because we had a great view of the lights in the city. We could also see the nature reserve. Someone at the hotel told me that starting in May there is a migration of flamingos that will come to the reserve and I’m a little bummed I didn’t know that before hand because who doesn’t want to wake up and see a big flock of long-legged, hot pink, birds everyday!!

The spa at Dreams Vista is beautiful! It is on the 9th floor and overlooks the golf course and ocean. You must try the hydrotherapy session! As a preferred guest we both got a session, but you also get to do it if you schedule a service. I only caution you to remember not to change clothes in the locker room. I realized while on the beach that, even though it was nine floors up, you could see very well right into both locker rooms. (And that is all I am going to say about that.)

One of the best things about an All-Inclusive is that you can eat whenever and whatever you want. The food at Dreams Vista was excellent! They have four restaurants for dinner on property: Portofino (Italian), Mi Lucrecia (Mexican), Himiatsu (Asian Fusion), and the Bluewater Grill (Mediterranean on the roof top.) There is also a buffet for breakfast that was pretty good and an outdoor eating area that had burgers, tacos, nachos, sushi, etc. that was right by the pool. Our favorite place at the hotel was the Coco Café. It’s a coffee shop and ice cream parlor located on Level “L”. My hubs and I made that our last stop every night before heading up to our room. It was always quiet and had the feeling of a little secret place that only we knew about.
The one negative experience I had with food was the one time I ordered room service for breakfast. Eating breakfast with my man, in my fancy hotel robe, overlooking the ocean was one of my bucket list items for this trip. I was highly disappointed. We ordered several different items off the menu and none of them were good. We talked to another couple that had the same experience. Again, everything else I ate there was delicious!!
There were different forms of entertainment during the day (water aerobics, Zumba, volleyball) and at night (live music, movies), but we did our own thing. Others seemed to be enjoying it! This is also a family resort that has areas and amenities for kids and teens, but as it was just my husband and I on this trip we didn’t see these spaces.

Now for the main reason I went south, the beach! The beach at this resort is very small and very rocky compared to the beaches I am use to in the States. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t beautiful! It was so peaceful to relax in the hammocks in the water. While there we also took out the kayaks and the catamaran. While on the catamaran, they took us out to where the water was crystal clear and let us get out and swim around for awhile. As a guest of the resort, you can do the water activities for free, but you should tip the attendant. (It’s just the thing to do!)

You have three different pools at Dreams Vista: a kids pool that has a little water park, the main pool, then the rooftop infinity pool which is for preferred adult guests only.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at our first visit to the Dreams Vista Cancun. It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend the property if you are looking to stay at an All-Inclusive.
I hope you enjoyed this review! I know it is a little different from what I usually post.
