TRAVEL | THRIFTING IN GULF SHORES, AL

My husband and I just got back from a fun-filled week in Gulf Shores, AL, with some of our family! I was ready to sit on the beach with a book…..but I only got two days of that…..because it was cold and rainy.

No problem! Plan B! The women went thrift shopping. What an adventure! With the torrential downpours and trying to follow the GPS, lots of laughs were had. Several of us found treasures!

Here are a few of the places we went thrifting in Gulf Shores…just in case you should ever find yourself with yucky weather and not much to do.

ReSale Heaven

ReSale Heaven is affiliated with a Methodist Church in town. They had a great selection of clothes, books, and a stack of vinyl records that I was drooling over. I had an armload only to find out they only took cash. So if you hit up ReSale Heaven, be sure and stop by an ATM first…..they still have those, right?

Island Thrift

I found some great books at Island Thrift! It was also a good place if you were into china and punch bowls. If you stop by here, don’t miss out on a large backroom that was filled with furniture and wall décor. We almost missed it!

Holy Spirit Thrift Shop

Holy Spirit Thrift Shop had a large selection of clothing when I was there. I bought a classical record for $1 which I am thrilled with. If the parking lot looks full, they have extra parking in the back.

Hertha’s Seconds Boutique

Whether it is raining or the sun is cooking and beach-worthy, you should stop at Hertha’s Seconds Boutique. We went here three days in a row, I kid you not! This was a great place to find some thrifted, higher-quality items. One of my sister-in-loves bought two pairs of practically brand-new shoes! They were excellent quality and looked great on her! My other sister-in-love purchased a handbag and a couple of dresses. I grabbed a couple of things myself….shhh! Highly recommend! And the Mexican Restaurant next door smells divine.

Even though I didn’t get as much beach time as I would have liked, we made the most of the situation and had a lot of fun, which is what a family vacation should be. If you ever find yourself in Gulf Shores, AL, when it is cold and rainy, or if you have had your share of the sun, go thrifting. XOXO – Scarlett
