WEDNESDAY WANTS | 5 ITEMS YOU REALLY NEED

It doesn’t matter how much time or money you spend on an outfit, if you don’t take care of your clothes, if you don’t wear the right undergarments or shape wear, you might as well have put on those baggy sweat pants that are in the bottom of your laundry basket.

Let’s start with just the appearance of what we are wearing. Wrinkles are sloppy, no matter what you are wearing. For items that can’t be ironed and aren’t able to be dry cleaned, I keep this steamer in my closet. I use to work in retail so I am no stranger to a steamer. This one is probably the best one I have ever used! It produces steam quickly and I usually don’t have to go over the fabric more than once.

Sometimes, things just don’t fit exactly right. Unfortunately, this can give us a disheveled, leveled-down appearance. One thing that can help with that is fashion tape. I like this fashion tape in this little tin because it is super easy to throw in my handbag or travel case. It can hold that shirt together that is trying to bulge between the buttons, hold a low-dipped neck line in place, or hold a busted seem together in a pinch.

If your clothing has little lint balls on it, your item will look old and cheap. We all know that is just a sign of a loved and often worn item. A lint shaver is easy to use and this electric one by Conair is a good option. A quick once over and your item will look fresh and new again.

Nothing takes a killer outfit south quiet like wearing the wrong things underneath it. Bra straps or bra outlines underneath a shirt with thinner material are not appealing. I highly recommend purchasing reusable skin covers or an adhesive, strapless bra to help keep you looking seamless.

I’m a firm believer that everyone should have basic sewing skills and I’m thankful that my grandmother taught me when I was about six. I’m not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, but I can sew on a button or close up a busted seem in a pinch. All you need is some simple supplies like this basic sewing kit. Missing buttons and tiny rips will make the most polished of outfits seem ratty.

Taking care of the items in your wardrobe will make them last a lot longer! If you have any other tips share them below XOXO – Scarlett
