๐ŸŒธ Easter Elegance, Southern Style: Why We Dress Up for Resurrection Sunday

Thereโ€™s something about Easter in the South that for me feels different โ€” sacred, soft, and deeply sweet. Itโ€™s the kind of day that wraps you in sunshine, where tradition and tenderness go hand in hand. In the South, Easter Sunday isn’t just another church service โ€” itโ€™s an occasion! The further south you go, the grander it is. A celebration! A homecoming of hope, and families dressed in coordinating pastels.

I remember standing in front of a mirror as a little girl, smoothing the hem of my floral, blue dress while my Mamaw reminded me to put my slip on. โ€œWe wear our best for the Lord.โ€

Down here, itโ€™s never just about the clothes โ€” though the hats, gloves, and heels can certainly sometimes make a graceful entrance. Itโ€™s about honoring the moment. About showing up in reverence and radiance. About saying, โ€œHe is risen โ€” and I came dressed like I believe it to celebrate it.โ€

This year, I chose a vintage-inspired floral skirt, a white eyelet blouse, white espadrille wedges, my pearls, and, of course, a classic red lip. But church was not about being seen โ€” it was about seeing Him more clearly.

Because hereโ€™s the truth: I believe how I dress myself is a form of worship. That style can reflect the soul. And that when we take care with how we present ourselves to the world, weโ€™re participating in something sacred. We are reflecting Him!

He is the one that changed my life! I have lived like He doesn’t exist and I have lived like He does. Does is SO much better! He is the one that took a depressed, suicidal, drunken me and filled me with His joy and peace. He is my friend when I am lonely and my comfort when I am sad. Jesus truly does change EVERYTHING!

Whether you are celebrating in pearls or pajamas, I hope Easter reminded you of this:
โœจ You are loved and you are seen โ€” by the One that gave His only Son to die on a cross. By the One who rolled the stone away!

Hereโ€™s to Easter in the South, and the kind of style that never goes out of season. ๐Ÿ’
